Real or artificial Christmas TreeFor some people there is no choice - they either love real, or love artificial or fake Christmas trees.
For people considering artificial Christmas trees the benefits are:
- they don't shed needles, and need constant watering,
- they can be put up on display from 1st December, right through until after Christmas without drying out and looking like a fire hazard,
- artificial trees have so many more tips than real trees, making them much easier to decorate,
- when you look at the costs over the life of the tree, an artificial tree is cheaper than real trees every year.
Size of your homeAlways consider the size of your home, and which room you want to display the tree in. The three main factors are:
- choosing the room and space in the room for the tree,
- ceiling heights
- floor space
I believe you should have a minimum of 30cm (or 1 foot) from the tip of your tree to the ceiling. If you have very high ceilings you should consider a taller tree, or your tree will look dwarfed by the room.
Floor space is also critical. Measure the diametre of the area you wish to display your tree, and always consider this when choosing your tree. One of our favourite tricks is to take a few branches off the lower back part of the tree so we can push the tree in closer to the wall, and minimise its intrusion into living areas. It can make a difference of between 25-50cm difference to the diametre of the tree, creating greater flexibility. (This is only suitable for trees with hook-on branches - which most of ours are.).
If you have very limited floor space there are a number options:
- table top trees,
- slim line trees,
- feather trees,
- metal trees to display ornaments.
PriceLike everything in life, price and quality are normally closely related. Our trees come with a 10 year warranty so the quality is assured. The main factors affecting price are the height, width and most importantly, the number of tips on the tree.
Remember, when choosing a tree you will have it for many years, try and choose the fullest and tallest tree you can afford, otherwise, in a few years time you will end up back at your retailers up-dating your tree.
Finally, always remember "Enjoy your Tree!"
